18 March - 20 July, 2009
Centre Pompidou - Place Georges-Pompidou - 75191 Paris cedex 04 - http://www.cnac-gp.fr
A "transatlantic" artist, Alexander Calder (1898-1976) is well known here for the large mobiles and stabiles of painted metal to be seen in French cities and parks. As well as presenting outstanding pieces, the exhibition offers an opportunity to witness the original state of works conceived in terms of motion and equilibrium but now condemned to immobility by the exactions of time or by the death of their creator and animator, these being here accompanied by films such as Jean Painlevé's and photographs such as Brassaï's, in which they are shown being operated by Calder himself.

Galeries nationales du Grand Palais - Champs Elysées
3, avenue du Général Eisenhower 75008 Paris - http://www.rmn.fr
From 1967 on, Andy Warhol took on many portrait commissions of celebrities and unknown figures. For almost 30 years, these works have themselves formed a flattering portrait of a world obsessed with appearances. A selection of 250 works is presented in various themes: self-portraits, Screen Tests, Mao, Dollars, Catastrophes, Last Supper, etc. enabling the exhibition to open with a retrospective view.
LEAVING RODIN BEHIND , SCULPTURE IN PARIS 1905-1914
10 March - 31 May 2009
Musée d'Orsay 1, rue de la Légion d'Honneur 75007 Paris http://www.musee-orsay.fr
As the 20th century dawned, Rodin reigned supreme in the world of sculpture. In France and elsewhere, new generations were seeking to free themselves from his influence.
This exhibition, featuring creative artists from all over Europe, will show how experiments into anti-Rodin volumes were appearing in the work of classical artists — Maillol, Bernard, Lehmbruck — as well as in the work of avant-garde sculptors — Duchamp-Villon, Archipenko, Brancusi.

Warhol TV looks at a hitherto little-studied aspect of the work of this leading 20th-century artist, who was open to all the forms of expression available in his lifetime, and who left his mark on American televisual creation in the 1970s and 1980s.
